The Project

Iberostar Selection Lagos Algarve is a five-star resort hotel located alongside Meia Praia beach in Lagos. In 2019, the hotel replaced approximately 1,100 m² of timber decking with CDECK® across the pool and leisure areas. Four years later, it chose the same solution again — this time for the suite balconies.

The Challenge

The balconies were finished with the same timber decking that had already revealed its limitations across the other outdoor areas. Over time, the same issues resurfaced:

Deterioration and maintenance

Heavy daily use, constant exposure to the coastal environment and the intense Algarve sun caused accelerated material degradation, with colour loss, visible wear and reduced stability over time. The frequent need for intervention and maintenance meant recurring costs and disruption to the hotel’s daily operations.

Consistency with the first phase

The balcony works had to ensure visual uniformity with the 1,100 m² already installed — same materials, same colour, same aesthetic language.

The Solution

CDECK® Original composite decking in Redwood was once again the chosen solution. The installation combined two Quick-Fix® structure types — Type II with aluminium joist and Type III with a crossed structure without joists — adapting the solution to the specific conditions of the balconies.

The installation was carried out by QuatroQuadrado, ensuring the precision required for a project of this scale. The result is 746 m² of CDECK® across the suite balconies, seamlessly integrated with the pool and leisure areas completed in 2019 — delivering a continuous, uniform outdoor finish with no recurring maintenance.
