The Project
Iberostar Selection Lagos Algarve is a five-star resort hotel located alongside Meia Praia beach in Lagos — one of the most iconic coastal destinations in the Algarve. The hotel features extensive outdoor areas, swimming pools and leisure spaces that operate year-round, designed to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
The Challenge
The hotel’s outdoor areas, particularly around the two swimming pools, were finished with natural timber decking. Over time, this solution revealed significant limitations:

Accelerated deterioration
The high daily footfall, constant exposure to the coastal environment and intense Algarve sun caused colour loss, splintering and visible degradation of the timber.

Ongoing maintenance
The frequent need for treatment and repair meant recurring costs and interventions that disrupted the guest experience at a hotel in continuous operation.
The Solution
CDECK® composite decking was the chosen solution to replace approximately 1,100 m² of timber around the two pools and across the hotel’s leisure and dining areas. The installation combined hollow and solid boards, adapting the solution to the specific conditions of each zone.
The Result
Since 2019, the pool areas and leisure and dining spaces at Iberostar have featured approximately 1,100 m² of CDECK® decking, creating outdoor spaces that are more uniform, durable and suited to the hotel’s high levels of use. A continuous surface built for daily traffic — no sanding, no varnishing, no interventions that disrupt operations. Just periodic cleaning.
