The Project

The Anchor Troia, formerly Aqualuz Troia, is a resort located on the Tróia peninsula, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Arrábida mountain range. The project comprises fully equipped apartments and studios across two buildings — Sea and River — designed for flexible short and medium-term stays.

With direct beach access and proximity to the marina, it combines the resort concept with the independence of self-catering accommodation, including a pool, spa, dining and leisure areas.

The Challenge

The resort’s outdoor areas, particularly the pool surroundings and relaxation zones, were finished with natural wooden decking. Over time, this solution revealed significant limitations:

01

Accelerated deterioration

Constant exposure to moisture, sun and the maritime environment of the Tróia peninsula caused warping, loss of stability and visible deterioration of the wood.

02

Recurring maintenance

The frequent need for repair and treatment interventions compromised the efficiency of the solution and the availability of spaces in a continuously operating resort.

The Solution

CDECK® composite decking was the chosen solution to replace the approximately 1,000 m² of existing wooden decking, addressing the need for a more durable, stable solution suited to the maritime environment and the intensive use of the space.

The installation was carried out using a self-supporting crossed structure of height-adjustable aluminium joists and tubes, laid directly on the existing base — with no need for structural intervention on the slab.

One of the distinctive features of this project was the manufacture of made-to-measure boards, 3 metres in length, combining both available profile types — hollow and solid — in the same installation, to meet the specific requirements of each area.

The Result

Since 2020, the outdoor areas of The Anchor Troia have featured approximately 1,000 m² of CDECK® decking — a continuous, stable surface prepared for the maritime environment and the intensive use of a resort. No maintenance interventions to disrupt operations — just periodic washing.

The installation was carried out by QuatroQuadrado, who ensured the coordination and precision required for a project of this scale and complexity.
