The Project
Nooba is a large-scale residential development in Barreiro, on the south bank of the Tagus, promoted by Solid Sentinel and designed by Saraiva+Associados. With 197 apartments, it is one of the largest residential projects in Greater Lisbon. The buildings include rooftops with a swimming pool, a 100-metre panoramic athletics track overlooking the Tagus, a 230 m² leisure area and a 430 m² garden.
The Challenge
On the rooftops surrounding the pools, the structural constraints made conventional installation impossible:
01
Deep service pits with exposed pipework
The slab featured pits with significant level changes, through which a large volume of pipework ran. Filling them with concrete was out of the question: the added weight would have been excessive and access to the pipework for future maintenance would have been compromised.
02
Curved and detailed finishes
The area surrounding the pool and the athletics track required precise cuts and fittings to follow the curved shapes of the space.
The Solution
CDECK® was not in the original specification. The tender documents called for a different brand — but the superior combination of price, material quality and ability to meet the structural complexity of the project determined the switch.
CDECK® composite decking was therefore the chosen solution for these areas: an anti-slip surface, resistant to chlorine and comfortable to walk on barefoot — with the finish that a project of this scale demands.
The solution for the service pits involved a substructure supported on concrete columns, over which aluminium profiles and supports create a level plane above the pits — keeping the pipework permanently accessible for maintenance. The Quick-Fix® system ensures this at all times: boards can be removed individually without dismantling the surface.

The Result
The installation was carried out by QuatroQuadrado. The result is 459 m² of composite decking across the rooftops of Nooba — a raised structure over service pits with pipework, with curved finishes that follow the lines of the pool and the athletics track. An accessible, functional surface with the aesthetic precision of a landmark project in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. With a warranty of up to 25 years.
